Care designed around you, not the clock.
Living with autoimmune disease requires more than a brief office visit. It requires time to understand your symptoms, answer your questions, and build a plan that evolves with you. The direct care model lets Dr. Naureen Alim spend more time with each patient, stay accessible between visits, and build lasting relationships that support long-term health.
Why direct care
Direct care is not about luxury. It is about time.
Traditional healthcare limits the time a physician can spend with each patient. For people living with autoimmune disease, those limits make it difficult to fully explore symptoms, weigh treatment options, or work through concerns.
Caring for a smaller number of patients creates room for a different experience — more personalized attention, greater continuity of care, and a genuine physician-patient relationship.
The goal isn’t to see more patients. The goal is to care better for each one.
For patients living with chronic autoimmune disease, thoughtful conversation, continuity and partnership are not conveniences. They are part of high-quality care, and every patient deserves to feel heard, informed and supported.
What you can expect
More time
Appointments are intentionally longer — time to review your history, discuss symptoms in detail, answer questions, and build a personalized plan without being rushed.
Personalized care
Every autoimmune journey is different. Your treatment plan reflects your diagnosis, symptoms, lifestyle and health goals.
Access between visits
Greater access to your physician for questions, follow-up care, medication adjustments and ongoing guidance between visits.
Continuity
Rather than starting over at every appointment, care is built on an ongoing relationship — one that allows for better-informed decisions and a deeper understanding of your health over time.
Education
Diagnoses, treatment options, medications and long-term plans explained plainly, so decisions are made with confidence.
Services
Comprehensive care for every stage of your autoimmune journey.
New patient consultations
A full review of your history, symptoms and previous testing, followed by a comprehensive assessment. The first visit is an opportunity to tell your story and leave with clarity on next steps.
Autoimmune disease management
Ongoing care through regular follow-up, treatment planning, medication management and symptom monitoring. Every plan is individualized to your diagnosis, symptoms, lifestyle and goals.
Diagnostic evaluations
Many autoimmune diseases are difficult to explain or diagnose. Comprehensive evaluation for patients who have been searching for answers or received conflicting opinions.
Second opinions
A review of your medical history, testing and treatment options when a diagnosis is uncertain or your questions have gone unanswered. A second opinion stays confidential unless you choose to share it.
Peer-to-peer consultations
Rheumatology guidance for physicians and other clinicians managing complex autoimmune and musculoskeletal presentations. Timely collaboration can expedite diagnosis and treatment decisions while a patient waits for specialty care.
Long-term disease management
Regular follow-up, medication monitoring, symptom management, education and care coordination as your health changes over time.
Medication management
Treatment options discussed openly, effectiveness monitored, side effects managed, laboratory testing reviewed, and therapy adjusted to your response and goals.
Patient education
Guidance on your diagnosis, treatment options, medications, lifestyle considerations and long-term management — so you can take an active part in the decisions being made.
Care coordination
Working alongside your primary care physician, other specialists, laboratories and infusion providers to keep your care continuous.

Conditions we treat
No two patients experience the same condition in exactly the same way.
Lupus (systemic lupus erythematosus)
A chronic autoimmune disease that can affect the joints, skin, kidneys, lungs, heart and nervous system. Treatment focuses on controlling inflammation, preventing flares and protecting long-term organ health.
Rheumatoid arthritis
Inflammation of the joints and, in some cases, other parts of the body. Early diagnosis and treatment matter — reducing inflammation preserves joint function and prevents long-term damage.
Psoriatic arthritis
Inflammatory arthritis associated with psoriasis that can affect the joints, tendons and spine. Treatment focuses on controlling inflammation, relieving symptoms and preserving mobility.
Ankylosing spondylitis
Inflammation of the spine and sacroiliac joints, causing stiffness and reduced mobility over time. Early recognition and treatment help manage symptoms and maintain function.
Sjögren’s disease
Autoimmune dryness of the eyes and mouth, often with fatigue and joint pain. Treatment focuses on symptom management while addressing systemic effects when they are present.
Vasculitis
A group of conditions involving inflammation of the blood vessels, which can affect many organs throughout the body. Management depends on the specific type and the organs involved.
Osteoporosis
Bone loss that increases the risk of fracture. Evaluation, prevention, treatment planning and long-term monitoring to help maintain bone health.
Connective tissue diseases
Autoimmune conditions affecting the tissues that support the skin, joints, muscles and internal organs. Treatment is individualized to symptoms, disease activity and overall health.
Gout and crystal arthritis
Sudden, severe joint attacks caused by crystal deposition. Treatment addresses both the attack and the underlying cause that keeps producing it.
Undifferentiated autoimmune disease
Some patients experience autoimmune symptoms before a definitive diagnosis is established. Evaluation and monitoring continue while working toward diagnostic clarity and appropriate treatment.
Looking for answers
Not everyone arrives with a diagnosis.
Many patients come to Wellness Rheum because they have persistent symptoms that have not yet been explained. If you have been living with ongoing joint pain, fatigue, swelling, unexplained rashes, muscle weakness, dry eyes or mouth, or other symptoms that may suggest an autoimmune condition, we can help evaluate the full picture and guide you toward answers.
- Persistent joint pain or swelling
- Chronic fatigue
- Muscle pain or weakness
- Unexplained rashes
- Recurrent fevers
- Dry eyes or dry mouth
- Raynaud’s phenomenon
- Morning stiffness
- Positive autoimmune laboratory tests
- Recurrent inflammation
- Unexplained symptoms affecting multiple body systems
If you’re unsure whether your symptoms warrant a rheumatology evaluation, reach out. Early evaluation often leads to earlier diagnosis and more effective treatment.
